Sex Therapy in Massachusetts | Holistic Support for Your Intimate Relationships
It feels like the problem always comes back to sex…whether we’re having it, or not having it
Even if you DO try to talk about sex and intimacy in the relationship it turns into a heated argument. So you put off talking about it, but now you realize you never talk about it. And it’s become this enormous elephant in the room. You both try to talk around it because it feels scary now. Scary because you might have to talk about the guilt, or the pressure, or the loneliness you’re feeling. Scary because you might let it slip that so much resentment has built around it that you’re having trouble remembering why you want to be together in the first place.
We Feel Like Roommates
We decided a long time ago that’s not what we want. This feels like a platonic relationship. We spend so much time fighting about sex and intimacy or talking about fights around sex and intimacy that there’s no space to HAVE sex and intimacy. How do we break this cycle?
What Would It Be Like To Feel Loved And Desired Without Pressure of Fear?
I’m Miranda, a Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist in Salem, Massachusetts
I helps couples address that elephant in the room head on. Together we will acknowledge all the intense feelings that may come up when we talk about sex, but take the sting out of them so conversation around sex and intimacy feel easier. Through therapy you’ll find that you and your partner begin talking about sex more like pizza toppings. One of you may be a pineapple person, one may not, but whether you’re for pineapple or pepperoni you don’t feel judged or pressured about your preferences or desires.
We’ll help you remember why you aren’t just roommates and reconnect you to what led you to each other at the very beginning. You’ll work together to create a vision of the sexual connection you both want for your future, centered around pleasure and connection and we’ll create a map of how to get there. We’ll explore how this new, safe way of communicating and connecting through difficult feelings can expand to every corner of your relationship’s foundation. We’ll highlight the need to balance both addressing conflict and those feelings that come up along the way with making sure the majority of time is spent remembering why all that processing and working through the tough stuff is worth it.
